We ended up staying at Mac's house for a few days and very much enjoyed being off the road. Mac (from San Fran) & his wife Maureen (Kiwi) are both potters who have lived in Kaitaia for over 20 years in and origianl farm house with Kauri wood floors and amazing garden with fresh fruit and veggies. They operate a small pottery business from their home. We had no idea what to expect and were so happy to thoroughly enjoy chatting it up with this adventerous couple.
